and light areas simultaneously. Te high-color reproduction by primary (RGB) color flter and color mode/black & white mode automatic switching is available by simple Day/Night function. Te 1280 x 960 image size is captured at up to 30 fps. Tese images are recorded on the SDHC memory card of the camera, and provide up to about 32 hours depending on the video bit rate. In keeping with Panasonics commitment to truly ruggedized products, the camera and battery are IP65-compliant dust and water-resistant. Operation is quick and easy even with gloves on, as the camera is only activated at the ofcers touch by a push button on the side of the camera head. Te battery pack displays bright LED power, recording, and SD memory status lights so the ofcer can easily see when the unit is recording. Te battery pack is rated for fve hours of continuous use, which equates to a full shift if the ofcer controls recording time. Audio is also recorded with a speaker microphone built in to the camera head. Pre-recording is possible up to 30 seconds, depending on the settings. Downloading occurs in seconds as soon as the camera is plugged into the optional Panasonic desktop conversion. Auto download can occur without ofcer intervention if required or removal of the SD card and insertion in a PC can also be used. Te wearable-camera agent software automatically uploads to a PC via the conversion box. Viewer software enables fsh-eye original images to play back with stabilization distortion correction. If video security is a concern, the video data can be scrambled and uploaded to a PC, which is then only verifed by the Camera Viewer software. Te Camera Viewer software is easy to use and self-explanatory. Still photographs can be pulled from the video and compression to various other storage media is quick and easy. In addition to the stand-alone Camera Viewer software, Panasonic also ofers a complete Digital Management back ofce system, which allows the local agency to perform management tasks and decisions surrounding the ingestion, tagging, classifcation, cataloging, storage, retrieval and distribution of both InCar and Body Camera digital assets in a single integrated system. Te Arbitrator Safe Serve system is based on a Windows Server platform, and allows for localized, virtualized and cloud implementations to manage digital evidence. Te 2013 release of the new Arbitrator Safe Serve software will include additional capabilities built into In-Car Video software, to automatically tag videos, which also have Wearable Camera video attached to the same incident or event. When this tagging is performed, both the Incar video and Wearable Camera video will share the same type of metadata elements such as Case Files numbers, Classifcations, and other values. Implementing a feature like this reduces the time the ofcer needs to tag his Wearable Camera videos, and allow for both pieces of evidence to be tied and managed together. Panasonics WVTW310 camera can be used on its own or integrated with the companys ToughBook Arbitrator Safe Serve software. It ofers a recording capacity of up to 32 hours (H.264 compression) and a battery life of approximately fve hours when continuously recording. Video on K9 Most K9 video systems are very expensive and often require the use of an expensive harness on the dog. Te difculty with K9 video systems mounted on the dogs back is getting the camera mounted high enough to clear the dogs head. Otherwise, all thats seen in the feld of vision is the back of the dogs head. A fexible, hinged, pole mount is required to gain a clear view over the dogs head. Mounting on the chest of the dog is also an option, but Be on the cutting edge of K9 and SWAT with... ! NEW p The Panasonic Wearable Camera sees what the offcer sees. often times because of the dogs position, the feld of view wont capture the entire vertical scene. As this system develops, Panasonic can explore the requirements of K9 video and perhaps provide a much more cost-efective solution than what is currently ofered. Te Wearable Camera system is available in both the U.S. and Canada with an MSRP around $1,000. Circle Reader Service #52 or click on EInfo at www.pfmmag.com for more information.
