FEATURE Panasonic Wearable Camera (WV-TW311) are quick to attach. Both the camera and battery pack have clips to attach the unit to the ofcers belt, carrier, LBV or clothing. A battery pack holster can be used, which also can be attached to the ofcers utility belt. Tese belt clips are well-designed and do not come of the ofcer belt easily. Tis is important if the ofcer is running or in a struggle with a suspect. Te last thing the ofcer needs in a struggle is a piece of electronics getting tangled up. Tis wont happen with these Panasonic tough clips. Te cable that runs between the battery pack and the camera head is similar to a portable radio shoulder mic. Tis cable can be run under the clothing or around the back of the ofcer to ensure its not grabbed by a suspect. As with all Panasonics rugged products, they are constantly being reviewed for functionality and ergonomics in the feld. While currently taking feedback on the belt clips, it is likely a much-needed update to the clips is forthcoming that will allow them to rotate 360 degrees for further adjustability. Te cable, connections and holsters are all military spec, i.e., heavyduty for the outdoor, rugged environment. Te cable and battery pack can be removed and operated while the ofcer is wearing gloves. Camera Placement Te 1.3 MegaPixel camera head is 1.8 inches wide, 2.9 inches tall, and 1.6 inches thick, dimensions that allows it to be placed almost anywhere. Te camera can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the body. Like the battery pack, a new 360-degree rotating clip is coming, but in the meantime, the fxed clip can be removed with a screwdriver and rotated manually then reattached. Te black camera head is small enough that the user doesnt feel anything hanging on his/her shirt or vest, but it is defnitely not a concealable covert camera. You will know its there and so will the suspect. Similarly, the battery pack is 2.4 inches wide, 3.9 inches tall, and 1.4 inches thick. Installed in the camera head is an SD card, which is secured by a unique proprietary locking screw that can be controlled by the agencys IT department if required. Weight of the battery pack is a little over 5 ounces, while the camera head and long cable weigh a little over 7 ounces. Positioning of the camera head is fexible due to the broad feld of view, which is 180 degrees horizontal and 140 degrees vertical. Tis p The battery pack can be clipped to the load-bearing vest, duty belt or drop-down holster. 60 Tactical Response Mar-Apr 2013 p The Panasonic Wearable Camera is available with a Long cable for offcers and a Short cable for K9 use. works well as the ofcer moves around during an arrest or when running. Stabilized Image Anything worn on an ofcer or a dog will be bouncing around. Image stabilization is provided by a three-axis gyroscopic sensor that assists in image clarity for image vibration often found when the ofcer is walking or running. Te Wide Dynamic Range allows the camera to capture details in dark p The Panasonic Wearable Camera is compact enough to ft almost anywhere. With 180-degree coverage, the camera can be mounted well off center.
